Salvia rosmarinus

Rosemary

Potted ~2022 · about 4 years old
WaterLet it dry fully between drinks — overwatering is the only reliable way to kill it.
LightSix-plus hours of direct sun. A south-facing spot is heaven.
CareSnip often to keep it bushy. Not winter-hardy below ~15°F — bring the pot in.

The rosemary lives in a terracotta pot right at the foot of the hive, which means its early blue flowers are often the bees’ first forage of the season. After four years it’s a proper woody shrub. The only real challenge in our zone is winter — rosemary isn’t reliably hardy through a New Jersey cold snap, so the pot comes into the garage when the temperatures drop and goes back out in spring.
