Monstera deliciosa ‘Aurea Variegata’

Monstera Deliciosa Aurea

September 18, 2026
LightKeep it in bright indirect light to support the yellow variegation. Rotate it for balanced growth and shield it from harsh direct sun.
WaterWater when the upper inch is dry, soaking the mix thoroughly and discarding drainage water. Allow additional drying when light and growth slow.
HumidityAim for roughly 60–80% humidity with airflow. Increase humidity if pale sections repeatedly develop dry brown margins.
PropagationStem cutting with at least one healthy node. Place the cutting in water, sphagnum moss, perlite, or LECA.
SoilUse a chunky, fast-draining aroid mix that provides both aeration and modest moisture retention.
TemperatureMaintain about 65–85°F and avoid cold drafts or sudden shifts in temperature and placement.
FertilizerApply a balanced fertilizer at reduced strength during active growth. Avoid excess fertilizer, which can damage sensitive variegated margins.
DifficultyAdvanced
Pet safetyToxic if chewed. Insoluble calcium oxalate crystals can irritate the mouth and digestive tract of pets and people.
Care tipsProvide a sturdy climbing support and stable conditions. Yellow variegation can change between leaves, and pale tissue is more vulnerable to sunburn, dryness, and fertilizer salts.

This is general guidance. Adjust watering and care for your home's light, temperature, humidity, potting mix, container, and season.

General care

Monstera Aurea performs best in a warm, stable setting with plenty of indirect light. Its yellow sections contain less chlorophyll, so the plant needs good light while still requiring protection from intense direct sun.

Water and humidity

Water after the surface dries and let the container drain completely. Higher humidity can help protect leaf margins, but airflow and an open potting mix remain important because humid conditions do not compensate for waterlogged roots.

Growth and variegation

Rotate the plant periodically and provide a moss pole or other firm support. Feed modestly while it is actively growing. Expect the yellow pattern to vary naturally, and avoid stressing the plant in an attempt to force more color.
